New Home!

I just wanna share to you that it’s been 3 months since I decided to board home somewhere near at my work because Philippines is shit when it comes to travelling because Traffic and defective public transport is still a huge problem in our country.

Honestly, I didn’t really want board a house since I’m pretty much sure I can handle everything going back and forth. I was able to manage for a year but eventually I totally exhaust myself and finally decided to get a home somewhere very near at work where there is no transportation at all. Yup, one thing I will considering boarding is that, if I board, it’s definitely near like I won’t be having one ride just to go to work. Because first and foremost, I board not just to save time but also to save money ๐Ÿ™‚

TRAFFIC in EDSA! Rock and Roll! Photo credits here: http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/949839/metro-manila-traffic-to-reach-standstill-levels-in-5-years

To give you overview, my current work place’s normal travel time is 2hrs. If there is traffic it will kill you with 4-5hrs. If it’s only 2hrs everyday, I can manage but really, 4-5hrs? That’s like a travel going to province! Philippines got it worst than before and traffic is one hell of a problem here in our country. Add to that our MRT who’s most of the time jam packed and broken! I go to work at 7am so from my original home, I have to wake up at 3am and then depart by 4am. Too early? Yes, because I’ll still get exactly to work by 7am. Which is honestly made me really worn out so that’s why ๐Ÿ™

So a good friend of mine pursued me so well because they got one vacant slot in a room shared by 4 people. It’s actually a bed space and I haven’t tried bed space before because privacy issues and strangers, if you know what I mean. But since this friend of mine is there I guess you could say that I’m kinda relief at least I know one person inside the house ๐Ÿ™‚

This is the house ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s huge right? ๐Ÿ˜€

So basically it’s a house with 3 floors. 2 rooms on the first floor, 3 rooms on the 2nd floor and 2 rooms on the first floor. Each floors has 1 bathroom and each room needs 4 headcounts. I don’t know who my room mates at first of course (btw– my friend is a guy so we’re not room mates XD) I honestly felt so awkward at first and I’m like not talking at all but eventually we warmed up now we’re almost 3 months living together ๐Ÿ™‚

The house is super convenient and cheap. All in all together with the utility expenses, I guess I found this place cheaper and convenient. It has cable, wifi and our room is air-conditioned! Hahahaha! Each room is sub-metered too so it’s up the each rooms how they conserve electricity ๐Ÿ™‚ and— I only need to walk to work for only 20 minutes! Which is not that bad since I love walking and walking is also exercise ๐Ÿ™‚

So that’s it, I didn’t go thru much inside specially our room because there’s nothing special. It’s small but at least you can sleep comfortably. Btw, the bed is a double deck-bed and I’m on the top XD

Aside from that, I also have a new home for Kimi-Hana. Just last month my previous host decided to close her site since she’s having a hard time with the expenses so she asked me to back up everything. She felt sorry but I understand. So the me was struggling between to take Blogger or Tumblr. Though I’m pretty much used to tumblr layouts I decided to go to blogger because it’s more like blogging than tumblr. But honestly it didn’t made me happy with Blogger so I kept on looking for a free subhosting because I really want to go back on wordpress ๐Ÿ™

And I stumbled uponย Jamie’s blog and check out Candyrain.org because she’s currently hosted under here and luckily, this lovely domain offers free subhosting! Honestly I was scared to try to apply because I’m just used to having friends I knew hosted me before so this is very knew to me XD and just then I emailed her and the lovely Jamie even assisted me! Jamie and Jessica were hospitable and accomodating ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you so much for accepting and finally, here I am back with wordpress and is hosted under Candyrain.org. So happy to be part of this new fam! ๐Ÿ˜€

Why don’t you just buy a web space?ย Because it’s too expensive and currently not my priority like I’m not really a web geek so I think that’s too much for me as of now. But I am considering one day because I know it’s much more convenient. The domain name took me a long years before I purchased one my own and I guess I’m okay with just this for now ๐Ÿ™‚

So that’s it for my new home!
Feel free to share your thoughts on this! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Metro Manila traffic is really really bad! This is why I decided to go back to the province and work there instead despite the small salary and less opportunities for work. Best of luck on your new home! ๐Ÿ˜€

Also, glad you’re back online (or rather, moved to a new host). I was worrying about your blog. XD

    1. Just as you said! Getting worst everyday! XD Well, I don’t have province so gotta stick here for now XD but let me consider also taking a job overseas… hmmm…. XD HAHAHAHA!

Well I manage to stay for a month in blogger naman so I was never gone XD HAHAHA! But yeah, i feel so satisfied right now XD Thank you Euri-neechaaannn <3

  2. Ooooh, internet housewarming (and irl, too)! I’d also love to move to somewhere with my family that’s accessible to both Manila (where my bro studies) and where we all work. If you know of any places for a group of 4-5 people, please make chika!

The free subhosting seems cool! I might check that out!

    1. Thanks! Mostly room for rent and ranges from 3k-4k per person. Pero you work from ortigas diba? Baka meron dun ๐Ÿ˜€ Hehehe~
Yup, when you get your own domain ๐Ÿ˜€ Try subhosting ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Eek, thatโ€™s a long way to get to and from work! O_O But at least now its not far! I wouldnโ€™t mind walking to work entirely, but the times Iโ€™ve done it it took me like an hour. XD Guess Iโ€™m lucky to get rides! At least your place sounds pretty nice! Iโ€™m a shy person myself so it takes a while for me to get used to people.

Finding hosts can be rather frustrating. Been there. Though I usually was looking for paid ones. I did have someone host me YEARS ago and it was a nice experience! These days I pay for my own.

  4. That traffic seems like a terrible commute! I couldnโ€™t imagine having to get up that early just to get to workโ€ฆ5-6 hours after getting up for an early morning work day. I can definitely see why youโ€™ve decided to do some sort of sleepspace during workdays!

I think that your new living space sounds somewhat nice, even with how introverted I personally am. Sharing a home with others can be pretty stressful, but also weirdly comforting in some ways.

Having to change hosts can always be a pain, however, itโ€™s quite nice that your previous webhost gave you notice to backup all your data! Iโ€™ve heard good things about the owner of candyrain.org. I believe it used to be a resource site many years ago, in fact I believe Iโ€™ve used items from that website in the past.

Good luck with the new room, and hopefully youโ€™ll have much more time to get some sleep since you donโ€™t have such a long commute anymore!!

  5. For us working zombies, getting a home nearby work is really important. ๐Ÿ™‚ In my case, decide to go home everyday because i used to live that way too, but damn, i miss home. hahahahahaha. Taguig to Bulacan everyday is a struggle and a fun thing too!

  6. Oh man, I totally understand the need to move because of the commute! It’s great that you moved closer so you don’t need to stress out on a daily basis. At some point, it’s important to spend a little money to get some of your personal time back – all about that work/life balance!

Your place sounds great! Hope you’ll continue to live happily and grow to love your new home even more!

Hosting is an investment. I feel like a lot of people try to take advantage of it and not understand what happens in the backend. Either way, glad you found a nice alternative :).

  7. Yay for a new home! I’m hosted at candyrain.org for my other domain name too. Sadly, I forgot my password and couldn’t get back in. :'( I dropped email to Jessica and hopefully I get to hear from her soon…

Yay for shorter commute to work! I hate long commute to work too. Luckily, Singapore isn’t that big and I don’t work too far from my office. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. That’s a long commute! And I thought mine was bad! I have my bad days, but it’s never been 4-5 hours one way. Good on you for deciding to board somewhere closer. The lack of commute will give you so much more free time and will not tire you out as well!

  9. Oh man. My worst commute story is when it took me six hours to go home because it was raining hard!!! Without traffic, it’s just about thirty minutes huhu. When I was in the morning shift, it’s usually 2-3 hours one way but now that I’m in the morning shift, it’s just about an hour or less. Congrats on getting a space closer! I was seriously considering getting one myself a year ago.

  10. Shorter commutes are great especially with gas being crazy. Up and down and such. Anyhow, thanks for allowing us to have the chance to see your new home ;D

  11. Good god, that commute!!! Holy crap. I can go back to DC from NYC for that kind of time!!!! o_O
Jeez. I can’t blame you for moving in closer… And being able to walk there in 20 minutes is awesome! You have good exercise and some nice alone time! ๐Ÿ™‚

And congrats on the “move” for your domain! I need to think about consolidating my hosting at some point too.

  12. Before I begin this comment, I just wanted to apologize for being a bit late on it.

Anyways, welcome to the candyrain.org hosting family! I’m glad that I was able to assist you and Jessica as well. I’m also glad that Jessica actually gave you a place to call home! She’s the best hostess, (besides one one other hostess I’ve had) and in fact, she’s taught me a few things about the control panel that I never once knew about! It was like a blessing in disguise when I stumbled upon her hosting company and for what I wanted to have at the time of my doing so. Just like my helping you with anything you needed, and I am glad that you were able to solve the problems you had.

I love walking as well! It has a LOT of benefits. However, I’m noticing that I’m not really doing as much walking as I’d like too (this is only due to my current lifestyle), which I am hoping to get back into walking sometime soonish. I noticed that when exercising, I can concentrate better, and I heard a study on the news that students who exercise on a weekly basis do better in school. I tend to see that this actually comes true in my last semester.

  13. Wow, that’s an insane commute! I already think 2 hours is really long actually, and I can’t imagine having to deal with 4-5 hours. That takes up so much of the day!

I think that makes sense to find a place closer to your work. That’s nice that you can walk to work now! 20 minutes isn’t bad at all! I’m also glad you’ve warmed up to your roommates and that it sounds like things are going well. It also sounds convenient that cable and wifi is provided for you.

I’m glad you found a new place for your blog too!

  14. Holy crap that traffic looks horrible! That is one blessing about where I live. It’s not big enough to get like that and even though I live on the outside of town it will only take me 15-20 minutes to get to work. I don’t blame you for finding a new place closer to your job.

    Congrats on the new webhosting!

  15. Congratulations on finding a new home (both virtually and physically). All things considered, privacy is a small price to pay if it means more convenient commute at a cheap price. It’s also good that your friend introduced you to this living quarters, which means you’re at least with one person with whom you’re familiar. ๐Ÿ™‚ Not to mention 40 minute of walk from commuting knocks out the exercising portion of your day – and get paid to do it! ๐Ÿ™‚
